This project consisted in the repair of a retaining wall, which had suffered significant undermining from erosion due to the aggressive nature of the river it fronted and the construction of up-river rip-rap bank protection.

Windmill’s mission was to design the repair work to the existing wall and bank protection to prevent further loss of land to the river. In order to produce a feasible design, Windmill undertook a topographical survey, hydrological and hydraulic analyses to determine the required height of the rip-rap bank protection and the footing protection against scour.  

The morphology of the river means that it is highly erosive and therefore it has been key to determining an effective long-term solution.
