This project consists of the analysis of the structural safety of a screen wall forming part of the Barcelona metro, affected by the construction of a new building on Pujades street.
Windmill's mission was to study the terrain-structure interaction of this building and analyze the affectation of the structure on the subway tunnel, between the Poblenou station and that of Selva de Mar. The building´s foundations are a semi-deep with footings over mass concrete pits.
A two dimensional model has been generated to obtain the stresses and deformations of the terrain by modeling it using finite flat deformation elements. We modeled a strip of terrain, approximately 1.50 meters wide, corresponding to the alignment of footings that transmit greater load to the terrain. The section of land studied includes an area wide enough to take into account the building and the underground station. This model serves to make a quantitative analysis of the problem.
