In this case we drafted the geotechnical report for the foundations of two residential buildings and the subsequent study of the affect of the Catalan railways tunnel that runs under Papa Pius XI street in Sabadell.
Windmill's function has been, apart from conducting the geotechnical study, to study the interaction between the new construction, the ground and the railway tunnel. It is a building with a basement and three further floors, with a superficial foundation and conventional retaining walls. The buried tunnel is formed by two circular structures that are approximately 20 meters away from the building.
What should be highlighted about this project is that the terrain, the foundation of the building and the tunnel have been studied using a finite element model with flat deformation, being able to obtain data regarding the variation of deformation and stresses on the buried tunnel.
