This building was built in 1965, and has undergone numerous renovations. The last comprehensive reformation was carried out in 2013 by the architect Román Grisolía Peressini. The property is substantially rectangular in shape and totals a constructed area of 5050 m2, with an administrative-public use that is organized on the ground floor, five upper floors and an attic floor.

The supporting structure of the building consists mainly of reinforced concrete porches and unidirectional slabs, made mostly by self-supporting joists and concrete vaults. It should be noted that in previous tests the presence of aluminous cement was detected in the joists of the slabs.

Windmill's mission has focused on conducting the inspection and structural evaluation of the joists in this building, with special emphasis on the possible development of aluminosis.

To this end, a research and recognition campaign has been carried out on the structure, based on two differentiated approaches: visual inspection of concrete joists; and data obtained in samples taken during the execution of tests of X-ray diffraction, with the aim of detecting the possible development of the phenomenon of aluminosis in existing concrete joists.

The visual inspection has focused, on one hand, on the identification of the most common possible pathologies in cases related to the existence of aluminous cement and, on the other, the identification of the characteristics and typology of the different main elements that make up the structure.

X-ray diffraction tests have allowed us to study the crystalline phases present in the samples and the determination of the presence of phases associated with calcium aluminate cement (aluminous cement), which indicate the possible initiation of a material degradation process of the cement.
