The Alquería de la Torre, a building used as a second residence, was built in the mid-18th century and is located on the outskirts of Valencia in an environment of rural settlements.
The set is made up of a main body of two heights, a crenellated tower at its southwestern end and secondary constructions of single-storey stables, all of them distributed around a central courtyard, totaling a constructed area of approximately 1400m2.
The vertical structure of the building is made up of masonry factory walls with solid ceramic bricks arranged in regular formation. For its part, the horizontal structure is made up of wooden beams and unidirectional slabs of wooden joists with a rectangular section and interwoven with ceramic revolts.
The sloping roofs are supported by the façade walls and intermediate porticos formed by beams and pilasters made of brick. The structure is made up of rectangular section wooden joists on which wooden supports rest, and on these, the structure is finished with solid ceramic bricks that support the Arabic tiles.
The purpose of the project has focused on carrying out preliminary studies of structural analysis of the complex, by evaluating the existing documentation, visual inspection and testing, as well as conducting parallel tests.
As it is a rehabilitation project with a change of use, we have verified whether the existing structure is capable of adapting to the new needs that arise, evaluating overloads and possible reinforcements of the structure.
