Ports require large equipment during relatively long periods of time to act on the large and heavy elements that they contain and are constantly updating and renovating.
In order to improve the dismantling operation and make the process more efficient, Activa Lead Consulting, requested the structural analysis of two container cranes in the Port of Tarragona, to study their controlled dismantling.
As a result of the study, the points were identified where, with controlled cutting operations, the structure was weakened but with sufficient stability against the action of the wind, considerable in the port of Tarragona, however, with the application of a force, these points were transformed into plastic ball joints that allow the descent of the cranes by folding them.
