The project consists in the extension of an existing sports center in Villafranca del Panadés. The new building consists of a new volume with a constructed area of 3.000m2, together with the connection, by means of a bridge, to the existing building.

Windmill´s mission was to design and calculate the structure to cover the open space of 39x62m, being configured by means of a steel structure with braced frames and tubular section trusses.

The main challenge was to design a wide span structure, which is visible from the outside, and hangs the rooftop of the building, together with the design of the foundations suitable for an expansive clay stratum.
