The Municipal Market of Altea (Alicante), located in one of the most emblematic streets of the municipality, is a construction of the early 70s. The building, of rectangular geometry, has a ground floor, first floor, second floor and roof, the first floor being the one that welcomes the use of the municipal market itself. The structure of the set is configured by reticular slabs and concrete pillars.
The origin of the work is based on the future renovation and rehabilitation of the complex and the possible construction of a tracing of a floor on the existing structure.
Windmill's work has consisted of the safety assessment of the current state of the building, verifying its load capacity and the subsequent analysis of the reformed state with the predictable increase in loads that will be carried out due to the change of use of two of the levels of the set and the pointing of the same.
To this end, a structure research plan has been carried out, whereby, through testing, data on the construction of pillars, slabs and foundations have been obtained. Additionally, a geotechnical study has been carried out as part of the work to know the impact on the foundation of the increase in loads of the lift.
All the inspection of the structure has taken place in a quite complex context since the market, for commercial use, was open to the public during the course of the project, so all the work has been carried out without interrupting the daily activity of the local.
