The project aims to analyze the unidirectional floors of prestressed joists in several of the floors corresponding to an industrial building located in Barcelona. Due to its future rehabilitation and change of use, structural safety and conservation status have been evaluated to cope with a new shelf life.

Due to the date of construction and typology of the building, there was the possibility of the existence of concrete made with aluminous cement, therefore a series of samples were taken, from tests previously carried out for analysis in the laboratory.

During the extraction of the samples, the consistency of the concrete was found to be sandy and not very compact. Likewise, it was observed that the inner reinforcements had begun to develop an oxidation process. With this information and confirmation by the laboratory of the existence of aluminous cement in the samples, the probable development of a structural pathology related to aluminosis was confirmed.

Finally, the functional replacement of the affected floor slabs was designed and budgeted by the provision of metal profiles under each of the joists.
